On Tuesday 27 January 2026, Year 3 enjoyed an incredible day of hands‑on learning with a visiting Stone-Age Homo-Sapien, who amazed the children with their animalistic behaviour and unusual language! Pupils had the opportunity to explore a range of Stone-Age tools and weapons and even handled real animal bones to work out which animals they came from.
The children created their own cave drawings using chalk and charcoal on slate boards, before stepping into the role of Stone Age hunters. Using knapped flint, sticks, twine and feathers, they crafted their own Stone Age-inspired tools, including knives, spears, arrows, hammers, drills and axes.
To complete their experience, pupils tested their archery skills using safety arrows, aiming at targets representing some of the animals Stone Age people would have hunted, such as wild boar, stags, pheasants, badgers and hares.
It was a fantastic immersive learning day that brought the Stone- Age to life!
