Y1 Kings and Queens Experience
Leonie Saddleton
A Tudor Day to remember in Year 1
On Wednesday 11 February 2026, Year 1 enjoyed an exciting Tudor‑themed day, beginning with a grand entrance and speech from King Henry VIII himself. Pupils explored engraved portraits of past monarchs, ordering them chronologically, before creating their own clay coins featuring royal portraits and coats of arms. Pupils also learned traditional Tudor dance steps and put their skills into practice, and later tested their aim in a fun archery activity inspired by Tudor longbowmen. It was a lively and memorable experience that brought Tudor history to life for our pupils.
